One Sentence a Day

I had a dream last night that I told the writers group that my goal was to write one sentence a day, that even though that sounded like very little, the act of sitting down with my manuscript each day might lead to more than one sentence being written on any given day.

How easy. A dream indeed.

One sentence a day is a small goal. Too small for a novel-length work. There can be no pithy plan to get the work done if I am not prepared to devote every waking minute to the adventure of writing, to the joy of authoring a new world on dull white paper (or colorful computer screen).

We can mix living with writing, but nothing can replace actually writing if one ever plans to finish a novel.
