Vacation Is Over (Almost)

I planned to do some fiction writing today, but I got tired of just staring at the page so I thought I'd take a stab at writing a blog post since the blog has been silent for months.

Writers are a bit weird in that they are always talking about process. I hesitate to try to write at random when working on fiction, because I often go zooming off on a tangent and end up with one more branch on an increasingly tall tree. Sometimes making an outline sounds like a good idea, but the characters aren't always cooperative; they are not always ready to leap into action when the plot demands it.

And of course there is the writer's brain, also frequently not ready for action. Now I'm staring at this page.
