Novel for November

I was going to get a start on my third novel this month, just as a break from my second novel-in-progress, and had grand illusions of writing 5000 words a day.

Then I looked at how many pages 5000 words took up. Sixteen double-spaced pages. Yikes.

On the rare occasion when I sit down at the computer fired up about a scene and ready to write, I might get through five pages with ease. Yesterday I wrote one page with the feeling that I was running my nails down the blackboard the entire time.

I think I will scale down my ambition for novel number three and try for 500 words a day. For a first draft I can probably come up with some drecky kind of story - and describing scenery is always a good word waster...
